What does it mean to me?

You can tell Hastings that UnitechEDI clients all use the data passed in the CSH01 segment to determine whether to process back orders for a purchase order.

This interpretation contains our best thinking on this matter. For confirmation you should  contact your Hastings representative. For more information you can contact UnitechEDI at (800) 330-4094 or info@unitechedi.com

ASNs and Routing Requests required through Vendor Central

May 1st, 2008

Source: email from Amazon detailing changes concerning ASNs and Routing Requests dated April 16, 2007

What does it mean to me?

If you now send EDI ASNs to Amazon and you are a prepaid freight vendor there is nothing new to do. No need to read further.

If you now send EDI ASNs to Amazon and Amazon pays the freight (you are a collect vendor) you will need to send a routing request at least 24 hours prior to requested freight pickup for all loads over 150 pounds (LTL and Truckload). This routing request form is available in the Amazon Vendor Central Resource Center. This email routing request is in addition to the EDI ASN.

There is no routing request needed for small parcel shipments, just the usual EDI ASN.

If you do not now send EDI ASNs to Amazon……

and you ship your freight to Amazon prepaid, you will need to send an ASN via the Amazon Vendor Central Resource Center Website for all shipments. This will include line level detail.

If you are a Collect vendor (Amazon pays freight) you will need to send a routing request/load notification with line level detail via the Amazon Vendor Central website for all LTL and Truckload shipments.

No routing request is needed for small parcel shipments, just the Vendor Central ASN.

Web forms such as Vendor Central are a great way to allow the smallest publishers to comply with Electronic Reporting Requirements without making any investment in software. However, as with all manual operations, there is definitely a labor cost involved as you enter information to describe the shipment.

Options:

UnitechEDI can set you up to trade EDI ASNs with Amazon giving you the benefit of higher accuracy and proof of packing and saving you the error prone manual entry of the web form. Please let us know if you would like more information.

This interpretation contains our best thinking on this EDI Compliance matter. For confirmation you should  contact your Amazon representative. For more information you can contact UnitechEDI at (800) 330-4094 or info@unitechedi.com

Reminder: Upcoming Amazon IP address changes

May 1st, 2008

Source: email from Amazon reminding that their direct ftp server address was to change dated April 15, 2008

What does it mean to me?

If you trade with Amazon using the ICC or Pubnet VAN then there is nothing that you need to do. No need to read further.

If you trade with Amazon using direct ftp you will need to adjust your firewall to allow their new IP addresses.

How do I know what VAN I use?

If you use direct ftp we would already have contacted you.

This interpretation contains our best thinking on this matter. For confirmation you should  contact your Amazon representative.
