Amazon plans to initiate an automated PO change/cancellation process via EDI with selected vendors in 2009. The primary goal of this new EDI process is to minimize the amount of mis-shipments.

Covered scenarios include:

  • Cancellation of the entire PO.

  • Cancellation of one or more line items on the PO.
  • Quantity change for one or more line items on the PO.
  • Cancellation of one or more line items AND quantity of one or more other line items on the PO (i.e., a combination of bullet points 2 and 3).

What does it mean to me?

Two new EDI transactions would be added by UnitechEDI. If you want the process fully automated then you would need major modifications from your fulfillment system vendor.

What do I have to do?

If you do not feel that this new initiative would be valuable to you, then fill out the survey that Amazon sends you and answer NO to the first question.

If you would like to explore this further then UnitechEDI can do an analysis of your options and the corresponding costs.

This is our best thinking on this matter. For confirmation you should contact your Amazon representative. For more information contact (800) 330-4094 or support@unitechedi.com
