Borders EDI PO segment addition

August 20th, 2009

Source – Borders email 08/20/09

Borders is adding a message segment to it’s ANSI X.12 850 purchase orders. For version 4010 850, this will be a MTX segment between the DTM and N1 segments, as indicated in the attached specification. If you are not receiving version 4010 purchase orders from us at this time, we will be modifying older versions as well, to include the messages as soon as possible. If you would like to move to version 4010, please contact us at edisupport@bordersgroupinc.com.

The message may change from time to time. While we intend on implementing the MTX segment as soon as possible, we realize that for some of our business partners, their EDI systems will balk if an unexpected segment is received, some will ignore the segment if their EDI maps don’t use the segment at this time. If the addition of the MTX segment will require modifications in your system, please contact us as soon as possible.

What does it mean to me?

UnitechEDI and your fullfillment system already handle this.

What do I have to do?

Nothing

SPS Commerce Baker & Taylor Initiative

May 14th, 2009

Source: email from SPS Commerce titled ‘Follow up to letter’

What does it mean to me?

SPS has been hired by Baker & Taylor to do their EDI testing, a task that was formerly done by in-house Baker & Taylor staff. Publishers will now have to pay SPS a fee of $500 before EDI testing can start. If testing is not complete within a specified timeframe, testing must start again with an additional $500 fee.

Clients currently trading with Baker & Taylor using the UnitechEDI translator are in full compliance with the documents that they have in place.

You are under no obligation to purchase any SPS product.

What must I do?

If you already have ASN, there is nothing else that you need to do. If you do not have ASN you can contact UnitechEDI to discuss your options.

If SPS Commerce contacts you either by phone or email, simply tell them  that you believe that you are in full compliance and if they have any questions, please ask them to contact Rich Vettel at 800 330-4094 ext 801.

If you have any questions about your compliance status or options for ASN, please contact Support at 800 330-4094 and press 1.

This is our best thinking on this matter. For confirmation you should contact your Baker & Taylor representative. For more information contact (800) 330-4094 or support@unitechedi.com

Amazon will be switching their ftp platform for publishers using direct ftp.

What does it mean to me?

It does not apply to you as all UnitechEDI clients use the ICC VAN instead of direct ftp.

What do I have to do?

Nothing

This is our best thinking on this matter. For confirmation you should contact your Amazon representative. For more information contact (800) 330-4094 or support@unitechedi.com

Amazon EDI/Purchase Order Changes/Cancellations and Acknowledgements

March 4th, 2009

Source: email from Amazon dated March 3, 2009

Amazon plans to initiate an automated PO change/cancellation process via EDI with selected vendors in 2009. The primary goal of this new EDI process is to minimize the amount of mis-shipments.

Covered scenarios include:

  • Cancellation of the entire PO.

  • Cancellation of one or more line items on the PO.
  • Quantity change for one or more line items on the PO.
  • Cancellation of one or more line items AND quantity of one or more other line items on the PO (i.e., a combination of bullet points 2 and 3).

What does it mean to me?

Two new EDI transactions would be added by UnitechEDI. If you want the process fully automated then you would need major modifications from your fulfillment system vendor.

What do I have to do?

If you do not feel that this new initiative would be valuable to you, then fill out the survey that Amazon sends you and answer NO to the first question.

If you would like to explore this further then UnitechEDI can do an analysis of your options and the corresponding costs.

Anderson PO Due Date Project

February 27th, 2009

Source: email from Anderson dated January 30, 2009

What does it mean to me?

In addition to the ‘Deliver PO By Date’ which they have been using for some time, Anderson will be adding a ‘Do not deliver before Date’ to EDI POs.

What do I have to do?

These dates have now been included in the detail report which UnitechEDI produces when an EDI PO is processed, and should be reviewed by the warehouse. This is similar to the date window recently introduced by Amazon. In most cases, modifications to your fulfillment system would not be needed.

You will need to ‘Update Software’ from the UnitechEDI dashboard to install these latest changes.

This is our best thinking on this matter. For confirmation you should contact your Anderson representative. For more information contact (800) 330-4094 or support@unitechedi.com

Important Amazon.com Warehouse Information

October 22nd, 2008

navamazonlogoprime_v1833376_1.gif

Source: email from Amazon dated October 20, 2008

What does it mean to me?

Amazon wants to remind you that you need to have customer records for all distribution centers previously announced.

What must I do?

There are no new locations that have not already been announced. These have been on the Unitech SAN finder for some time. If you have already entered these then there is nothing new to do.

There are new SAN numbers for these same locations if you are a ‘Carton Qty Acct’. We are currently trying to find out from Amazon which publishers this might affect.

This is our best thinking on this matter. For confirmation you should contact your Amazon representative. For more information contact (800) 330-4094 or support@unitechedi.com

What does it mean to me?

Amazon’s internal monitoring software has again sent out error messages about 856 ASN when in fact there are no errors.

What must I do?

There is nothing for you to do. Just disregard the notice.

This is our best thinking on this matter. For confirmation you should contact your Amazon representative. For more information contact (800) 330-4094 or support@unitechedi.com
