Source of Announcement:

Phone call from Amazon rep

What is this about?:

UnitechEDI does not support direct ftp in place of VAN communication due to the lack of standards in setting up and difficulties in supporting.

In addition, VAN communication has the following advantages:
Better security
More dependable
Diagnostics available for support
On-line tools available for administration.

But the most important benefit to you of using VAN communication is that you now have an independent, verifiable audit trail of EDI files that you sent. If Amazon claims that they did not receive your invoices, you now have a way of proving if you did. With Amazon’s proposed system you would have no standard of proof and might be liable for costly penalties.

What must I do?:

If contacted, tell your Amazon contact that your vendor does not support this, and if they persist, forward their contact information to support@unitechedi.com and someone will get back to them to explain.

Disclaimer:

This is our best thinking on this matter. For confirmation you should contact your Amazon representative. If you have questions, contact (800) 330-4094 or support@unitechedi.com. What is this about?:

UnitechEDI is pleased to announce that we are partnering with DiCentral to provide EDI services to publishers who wish to distribute books to non-traditional outlets.

Rest assured that our relationship with our clients and with book industry sales channels, such as Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Ingram will not change. The arrangement with DiCentral simply allows more opportunities for our clients to gain access to new specialty markets.
